Ugo Opiegbe

Barr. Ugochukwu Opiegbe is the Managing Director of APL Electric Company Limited, popularly known as Aba Power, the electricity distribution arm of Geometric Power Group. He leads the company’s operations across the Aba Ring-Fenced Area, which covers nine local government areas in Abia State. His responsibilities include strengthening network performance, improving service delivery, expanding electricity access and positioning Aba Power as a commercially sustainable and customer-focused distribution company. A lawyer and infrastructure executive with over two decades of experience, Barr. Opiegbe has built his career at the intersection of law, energy and corporate management. Before becoming Managing Director, he spent more than 14 years at Geometric Power, rising through several leadership positions to become Executive Director, Legal Services and General Counsel. In these roles, he provided strategic legal and regulatory guidance on power purchase agreements, electricity generation and distribution transactions, gas infrastructure contracts, corporate governance and other critical aspects of the Aba Integrated Power Project.
